Taps is a short term for Tapsilog
Tapsilog, of course, is Tapa, Sinangag at Itlog
This truly Pinoy breakfast has evolved into different variations
Taps & Mix took it to the next level by offering other food viands
But for now this blog post would be about their breakfast meals
At Taps & Mix, they call it their Solo Combo Meals
For the health-conscious their Tuna flakes combo is it
My friend Dino Veloso ordered this and finds it passable
But I think it would jibe better with scrambled eggs
This one cost 75 pesos without drinks
At Taps & Mix, their combo meals cost from 65-75 pesos
I ordered their Daing na Bangus with rice and sunny-side up egg
The bangus was fried just right but tasted kinda bland
If they marinated this then they should improve on it
I still preferred sinangag (fried rice) over steamed rice
My driver Peter ordered Sisig Pork and chose hotdog over eggs
For their pork sisig, they used the liempo portion instead of the maskara (face)
According to Peter it tasted like spicy pork adobo
Nothing fancy about the hotdog slices but it tasted yummy
Taps & Mix transferred to their new building early part of this year
I find the place cozy enough to enjoy your meals
You’ll notice that the place is not totally finished
But for me, it looks and feels alright already
It actually made for a good conversation piece
Service was okay and the seats was comfortable
And hey, they have free WiFi connection!
Taps & Mix boasts of the fact that they cook their viands in pure vegetable oil using stainless steel cookware. All their meals do not contain MSG. Their new branch is located along Roxas Avenue fronting the open field of Notre Dame Dadiangas University. Taps & Mix is operated by Zip & Saute Resto Bar. You can contact them at (083) 554-2846.
