Food Trip #11: Firenzo Deli

I have long wanted to try Firenzo Deli since they opened a few months ago

So I invited Mr. Gensan 2010 Jenel Labiana and Centerpoint Band’s Keith Feria to an early dinner

I was surprised to see that we were the only diners that time

Probably because it was still too early for dinner

I love their interiors and ambience

The seats are also comfortable and room temperature was cozy

Service was passable but I find it quite “mechanical”

For starters, we tried their Clubhouse Sandwich (150.00)

Nothing fancy about this double-decker

The two layers of fillings consist of ham, lettuce, cheese and egg

The French Fries sidings was crispy and not oily, thank goodness!

Jenel ordered the Pasta Puttanesca (180.00)

This one’s served with generous amounts of anchovies and black olives

Jenel found the tomato sauce too overpowering

But for me this is one of the best puttanesca that I’ve tasted

Keith wanted Beef Salpicao but the waiter encouraged him to try the Beef Sukiyaki (250.00)

It was a good decision to make because this one’s really delectable

Its thinly sliced beef was very tender and sweet and the vegetable sidings are crunchy

The sprinkling of sesame seeds made for one good presentation

I chose to try their version of my favorite Spanish dish Callos (150.00)

This is actually ox tripe cooked in tomato-based sauce with Spanish chorizo

Although this was tasty enough, I’ve tasted better offerings

Also, there were more green peas than ox meat

Firenzo Deli is located at the Sun City Complex along National Highway, General Santos City.  They are open Monday to Sunday, from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm.  They serve as the main restaurant of Sun City Suites.  They also sell imported ingredients in one part of the restaurant.  For reservations and inquiries, you may call Sun City Suites at (083) 552-3333 and (083) 303-3333.

  • Food here is ok… but I was actually expecting it to be like a typical deli store like what you’d find at almost every corner of New York – a place where you can actually have a sandwich made with ingredients you choose, salad bars, full interiors, gourmet ready-to-eats in snack sizes, self-service dining, pay-by-weight soups and meals… 🙂
