After the sumptuous lunch and awesome bonding moments with the Davao Bloggers. We went malling at NCCC and SM until we got tired and proceeded to Bo’s Cafe along Torres Avenue. Over coffee we were trying to find out which restaurant was open that New Year’s night for dinner. We were still undecided when we left Bo’s only to find out that we were right beside Krua Thai Restaurant. And it was just timely because Krua Thai was celebrating their Sate & Meat Festival till January 31, 2011. It was a pleasant surprise to discover that they also offer Combo Meals at affordable prices.
We ordered their Seafood Platter (279.00)
This included Sweet & Spicy Squid, Fish Fillet in Red Curry
Squid in Basil Sauce and Fish Fillet in Tamarind Sauce
This should be a delight for anyone who is on a diet
The squid viands are tender while the fish fillet tasted fresh
The good thing about this platter is that there is no seafood after-taste
We also ordered the Chicken Platter (229.00)
You will love the Chicken Pandan and Garlic Chicken
Both viands are crispy on the outside but juicy on the inside
What surprised me was the Chicken with mushrooms in Oyster Sauce
It was definitely chicken but it tasted like cream dory fish – awesome!
The aromatic flavor of the Chicken in Panang Curry was also a delight
Since we were a group of seven, we also ordered the Beef Platter (299.00)
I will rank this the lowest in terms of presentation
Three of the viands have their sauces overflowing thus spoiling its individual taste
These are the Beef Spicy Salad, Beef in Panang Curry and Beef in Oyster Sauce
The saving grace is the delicious Fried Beef with generous sprinkling of Sesame Seeds
I am a great fan of Bagoong (Shrimp Paste) Rice
We had to order two platters or we will end up killing each other
I must say that Krua Thai has perfected this dish which in itself is filling enough
That dash of kalamansi was a first for me and it brought out a distinct taste to it
I am actually salivating while I’m writing this now
