Cooking 101: Vegetable & Beef Frittata

Fellow Food Blogger Gay Carrillo and I have been planning to do this for the longest time

Gay is the person behind the popular Food Blog “A Scientist in the Kitchen

Despite my killer schedules for the past weeks, I made sure that this one pushes through

Gay couldn’t wait for me any longer so she went ahead and did the cooking

Thanks to fellow bloggers Ric and Sheng Dumalay for joining us for dinner

I hope that the Coffee Crumble & Berry Strawberry Ice Cream I brought was good enough as “suhol”

The main course was Vegetables and Beef Frittata which Gay cooked with gusto

This Frittata is basically your standard omelette with more oomph

Gay’s version is beef-based and richly combined with vegetables

You can always go healthy and replace the beef with shrimps

When cooked, I suggest that you set it aside and let it cool

For me this is best served with “cold” steamed rice (bahaw)

And you have to eat with your (clean) bare hands

As your dip, try garlic mayonnaise  or just your ordinary tomato catsup

A dash of hot sauce will tickle your appetite even more

And Filipinos as we are, one food type per meal is a no-no

Gay really cooked up a storm and created her father’s Adobong Manok sa Gata

She also wove magical with her Stir-Fried Vegetables with Rice Noodles

And for the health-conscious, there was Salad of lettuce, Korean pears, beef slices with guava jelly dressing

Now can you spell F-O-O-D-B-I-N-G-I-N-G ?

Gay Carrillo is a corn breeder/molecular biologist based in General Santos City, Philippines. She started A Scientist in the Kitchen way back in 2007 while she was still a Doctorate student and was so frustrated with her scientific writings. Hence an outlet to write something different from science. Gay has since earned her PhD and now works full-time as a breeder. She has not stopped cooking, though. Her dog, Pasta a.k.a. Hungry Girl keeps her company and is her best food critic. (Excerpted from ASITK’s About Me Page)
